About Pinecurrent

A weekly newsletter and podcast, published from Saint-Laurent for readers and listeners across the West Island.

01Who we are

Pinecurrent started as a weekly email covering council meetings and small-business news in Ville Saint-Laurent, and grew into a companion podcast once readers started asking for an audio version of the same reporting. We now publish both every week, on the same schedule, out of a small newsroom near the Trans-Canada corridor.

Pinecurrent is operating as VALNET INC., which handles the publication's business side — advertising bookings, invoicing and the site itself — while the newsroom keeps editorial decisions separate from the advertising placements described on this site.

We are a small operation by design: two people cover reporting and recording, and one handles advertising bookings and scheduling directly.

02What we do

Alongside our news reporting, we sell three advertising placements to local businesses and organizations: a newsletter sponsor note, a set of podcast mentions, and a longer six-week partnership across every channel we publish.

03Where we are

We publish from Saint-Laurent, and our coverage — and our advertising audience — runs along the West Island: Ville Saint-Laurent, Dorval, Lachine and Pointe-Claire, following the Trans-Canada corridor. That is the geography every placement is sold against; we do not sell reach outside it.

Our office is at 7405 Transcanada, Suite 100, Saint-Laurent, QC H4T 1Z2. Visit or contact us for details on reaching the team directly.

04Who provides the services

Editor & podcast host

Writes and edits the weekly newsletter, hosts and records the podcast, and reviews every sponsor note and script before it airs.

Advertising coordinator

Handles enquiries, booking confirmations, scheduling and the reports sent after each placement runs.

05Quick answers

Are you independent?
Yes — reporting decisions are kept firmly separate from advertising placements, and our advertising coordinator has no say whatsoever over what the newsroom decides to cover each week.
Do you cover events?
Yes, community events across Saint-Laurent and the West Island appear regularly, from council meetings to local fundraisers and neighbourhood gatherings.

06Scheduling

Both the newsletter and the podcast run weekly, so we ask for at least five business days' notice on a newsletter note and seven on a podcast mention. We work Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:30 Eastern Time, and confirm every booking before it is scheduled.

07Coverage area

Our reporting and our advertising reach cover Ville Saint-Laurent, Dorval, Lachine and Pointe-Claire, and the businesses and residents along the Trans-Canada corridor between them.
